New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “We launched the Interagency Task Force on Truancy, Chronic Absenteeism and School Engagement to make sure our children attend and ultimately graduate from school. The supportive message of the Entertainers for Education Alliance poster campaign “Overcoming is Winning” reinforces this lesson and will help encourage our students to pursue the education they need.”

Mary Mary’s Erica and Tina Campbell were on hand for the ceremony, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of students, teachers, principals, city officials and media. The poster campaign will be displayed in schools across NYC and will be available on the organization’s website, along with several platforms throughout the City of New York to be announced. The campaign will also run across Entertainers 4 Educations Alliance’s social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter and also be available as a free download on the organization’s website at http://www.e4ea.org .

Entertainers 4 Education Alliance co-founder/Executive Director Tonya Lewis said, “It’s vitally important that we all promote education to our youth and set a foundation for young people to make education a priority for their life. Education is the cornerstone of a successful life. We are fortunate to have Mary Mary lend their celebrity to help us promote this important message to our youth that education is winning and essential to their life.”

Christine Quinn, Speaker of the New York Council “Providing more New York City students with the skills needed to graduate high school and go on and succeed at college has long been a priority for the City Council,” said City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn. “With this new I WILL GRADUATE Campaign poster, this important issue will get the attention and spotlight it deserves.  I want to thank Entertainers 4 Education Alliance, Inc. for their efforts to bring together powerful and influential voices and encourage more New York City students to stay in school.”

Councilman Robert Jackson said “I Will Graduate Campaign promotes a positive message for our youth to continue their education and overcome the obstacles. But as Chair of the Education Committee and Co-Chair of the Black, Latino and Asian Caucus, I believe that we have to create programs and initiatives that will protect our youth that are most vulnerable to the pressures of society and are prone to dismiss their education. By having these vital programs in place, we are ensuring that “no child will be left behind” and that our students are properly guided into the 21st Century.”

Council Member Letitia James said “Education is power, congratulations to the I WILL GRADAUATE Campaign for encouraging the youth of New York City to never stop learning, and thank you to Mary Mary for dedicating your time and talents to this worthy campaign.”

J.P Taylor, co-founder of Entertainers 4 Education Alliance added, “Our posters sends a simple message about the importance of education in a world where the importance of education has been diminished, it’s vitally important that we all promote this positive message. We encourage people to do their part for the I WILL GRADUATE CAMPAIGN and share this poster either on email, on your Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, websites and wherever.  Print it out and put it up to show you care about education.”

The “Overcoming is Winning” campaign poster is proudly supported by The Department of Education, The Mayors office, The Council of Supervisors Administrators, The United Federation of Teachers and The City Council of NYC.
