5 Questions With….. 3D The Boss

February 18, 2014 Leave a comment

Free Web ProxyBy BIG CED

In this fickle environment that we currently have in the music industry, we are always complaining about hearing ‘real’ music, looking for a different sound, getting back to ‘feeling’ music again. Yes, I hear and say the same things. Why do radio stations play the same artists year in and year out? Why is it that we always have to hear ignorance in music?

Listen….  If I had the answers, then I wouldn’t be able to bring focus to a 3 member group (Actually, 3 individual acts who have banded together to form a unit.), 3D The Boss.  Is it true that they really love their art and want to bring awareness with their craft? Can they be compared to anyone currently in the game? And is it true, that, in the near future, that I, will be their biggest fan?

Well, let’s find out…….

1. 3D The Boss sounds like a rapper from the hood, so, of course my first question is, how did you come up with the name, who is involved and what do you do?

Not Like Oprah: Teaching Kids To Shine On Their Own Terms

February 6, 2014 Leave a comment

http://mybrownbaby.com/2014/02/not-like-oprah-teaching-kids-to-shine-on-their-own-terms/

Beautiful African American GirlIn 1988, I was thirteen years old and I wanted to be a singer. And a dancer. And a lawyer. And a writer.

One out of four ain’t too bad, I suppose.

I also wanted to be Oprah.

Yes, as in THE Oprah Winfrey. I wanted the big, eighties, feathered hair. The Fashion Fair make-up. And the ability to ask white people provocative questions without fear of the consequences.

For a little brown girl growing up in Louisville, KY, the idea of a young black woman from the South, hosting and ultimately owning her own talk show and production company, was foreign and fascinating and worthy of my admiration.

And though I’d set Oprah in the forefront of my vision, I have to give my mother credit for never, ever, ever telling me that I couldn’t be a writing, dancing, singing, litigating talk show host. By virtue of her not discouraging my lofty ambitions, she taught me that I could be whatever I wanted. To this day, it has never occurred to me that I can’t do whatever I choose to do if I work hard and said task is the will of God for my life. Read more…

5 Questions With….. Kwan Foye

December 6, 2013 1 comment

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us1. You’ve sold over 500,000 books over the years. What drives you to write and what would be a good solid number of books sold that would make you feel like you’ve hit the pinnacle?

What drives me is not wanting to go back to what I came from. I have a legit career doing something that I absolutely love. The driving force behind all this is my mother. She died before any of her work could be published and I just picked up the torch. As far as numbers, it’s a blessing to have sold so many books but I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I’ve hit the pinnacle. I will never be complacent or feel like I’ve made it. I don’t feel like I have a ceiling or cap.

2. You’ve just released your latest, ‘Animal II: The Omen’, what is the book about and what made you decide to collaborate with Cash Money Content?

The Animal Saga is a spin off from the Hood Rat series. He was a character who stood out and whose voice spoke loudest to me so I kept building on his storyline. My readers love him and #TEAMANIMAL has become the biggest movement in this genre that I’ve ever seen. I felt like CMC was a good fit because Baby and Slim come from what I come from and they understand the demographic a bit better than most. It’s been a great working relationship because they trust me to do what I do without looking over my shoulder or suggesting one direction or another. I’m hands on with the packaging of my stories (covers, editors, etc) and the push. I’ve been doing this for eleven years so I have my finger on the pulse of my readers. Read more…

About Bradd Marquis

September 24, 2013 Leave a comment

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usBradd Marquis is not only an amazing singer; he’s a master craftsman that uses soul music to tell a story and transport listeners to a different world.  A world filled with love, romance, and a touch of drama which can all be summed up in the title of his new album, Thank You.  After just one listen of Bradd’s incredible voice it’s easy to see why he is constantly compared to RnB legends like Teddy Pendergrass and Gerald Levert.  Bradd has done the almost impossible by creating an album that flows from one song to another without missing a beat.  With tracks produced by Angelo Ray (who’s also worked with Akon and Kevon Edmonds) Thank You is easily a contemporary classic and Bradd Marquis is destined to be the new voice of soul music.  Read more…

Marvin’s overlooked film score masterpiece, with 29 unreleased tracks

Marvin Gaye was already a hit artist for a decade when, in 1971, he reached new heights with his landmark album What’s Going On. FORMER HALLMARK CARD WRITER RELEASES NEW BOOK OF POEMS ABOUT YEARNING, SEPARATION AND LOVE

– Poet and veteran author Ercell H. Hoffman’s new collection of poems captures the full range of emotion that swirls through human relationships as well as conveys the yearning for a sensuous and profound love which each of us, man or woman, shares. –

Denver, CO, and Compton, CA(BlackNews.com) — Ercell H. Hoffman announced today the release of her newest book, The Lament, Selected Poems and Prose, published by Outskirts Press. Hoffman’s poems confidently and candidly address that most basic human need of finding and keeping love while still holding steady to the recognition of one’s own inner truth.

This accomplished poet moves from longer confessional narratives to lean, well crafted quatrains, both frequently in rhymed couplets, which concentrate on love and loss and on the continued personal quest for connecting with others, especially with the depth of a true romantic love. A master at conveying the yearning to close the physical as well as the emotional space that too often separates lovers, Hoffman draws openly from her own experiences of separation and coincidence in love. San Francisco, CA(BlackNews.com) — REGI Books announces the release of their latest novel, Counterfeit Friends, by author d. E. Rogers. The book is a riveting story about cheating, losing a lovers trust, and discovering back stabbing friends. At a time where friendships blossom overnight on social networks, Counterfeit Friends will cause you to think twice before you accept a new friend request or expose yourself too soon to your companion.

“Trusting friends is at the heart of everything we do. Our friends are the people we confide in and depend on in crucial moments; friendships can inspire or impede our trust,” explains Rogers. “This book, though fiction, is about letting our guards down and trusting our friends and how friendships are destroyed over dishonesty.
