In this fickle environment that we currently have in the music industry, we are always complaining about hearing ‘real’ music, looking for a different sound, getting back to ‘feeling’ music again. Yes, I hear and say the same things. Why do radio stations play the same artists year in and year out? Why is it that we always have to hear ignorance in music?
Listen…. If I had the answers, then I wouldn’t be able to bring focus to a 3 member group (Actually, 3 individual acts who have banded together to form a unit.), 3D The Boss. Is it true that they really love their art and want to bring awareness with their craft? Can they be compared to anyone currently in the game? And is it true, that, in the near future, that I, will be their biggest fan?
Well, let’s find out…….
In 1988, I was thirteen years old and I wanted to be a singer. And a dancer. And a lawyer. And a writer.
One out of four ain’t too bad, I suppose.
I also wanted to be Oprah.
Yes, as in THE Oprah Winfrey. I wanted the big, eighties, feathered hair. The Fashion Fair make-up. And the ability to ask white people provocative questions without fear of the consequences.
For a little brown girl growing up in Louisville, KY, the idea of a young black woman from the South, hosting and ultimately owning her own talk show and production company, was foreign and fascinating and worthy of my admiration.
And though I’d set Oprah in the forefront of my vision, I have to give my mother credit for never, ever, ever telling me that I couldn’t be a writing, dancing, singing, litigating talk show host. By virtue of her not discouraging my lofty ambitions, she taught me that I could be whatever I wanted. To this day, it has never occurred to me that I can’t do whatever I choose to do if I work hard and said task is the will of God for my life. Read more…

Bradd Marquis is not only an amazing singer; he’s a master craftsman that uses soul music to tell a story and transport listeners to a different world. A world filled with love, romance, and a touch of drama which can all be summed up in the title of his new album, Thank You. After just one listen of Bradd’s incredible voice it’s easy to see why he is constantly compared to RnB legends like Teddy Pendergrass and Gerald Levert. Bradd has done the almost impossible by creating an album that flows from one song to another without missing a beat. With tracks produced by Angelo Ray (who’s also worked with Akon and Kevon Edmonds) Thank You is easily a contemporary classic and Bradd Marquis is destined to be the new voice of soul music. FORMER HALLMARK CARD WRITER RELEASES NEW BOOK OF POEMS ABOUT YEARNING, SEPARATION AND LOVE
– Poet and veteran author Ercell H. Hoffman’s new collection of poems captures the full range of emotion that swirls through human relationships as well as conveys the yearning for a sensuous and profound love which each of us, man or woman, shares. –
Denver, CO, and Compton, CA(BlackNews.com) — Ercell H. Hoffman announced today the release of her newest book, The Lament, Selected Poems and Prose, published by Outskirts Press. Hoffman’s poems confidently and candidly address that most basic human need of finding and keeping love while still holding steady to the recognition of one’s own inner truth.
This accomplished poet moves from longer confessional narratives to lean, well crafted quatrains, both frequently in rhymed couplets, which concentrate on love and loss and on the continued personal quest for connecting with others, especially with the depth of a true romantic love. A master at conveying the yearning to close the physical as well as the emotional space that too often separates lovers, Hoffman draws openly from her own experiences of separation and coincidence in love.
