The 2013 SESAC Pop Music Awards honored the top songwriters and publishers of 2012 with special awards presented to the Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year, Publisher of the Year and many more. The invitation-only, red carpet event is one of the most popular music gatherings in the industry. Marvin Gaye was already a hit artist for a decade when, in 1971, he reached new heights with his landmark album What’s Going On. His next move?  A mostly instrumental, orchestral jazz-soul soundtrack for the forgotten 1972 film Trouble Man.  The album, though a surprise to followers, was a hit, producing a top 10 pop title track and legions of new fans, including musicians who started the acid-jazz movement from its bones.

Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) is pleased to announce the 2012 national winners of the 37th Annual Gracie Awards. Bill Cosby Screenwriting Program Calls For Submission

Starting its eighteenth year, THE GUY HANKS & MARVIN MILLER SCREENWRITING PROGRAM aka The Cosby Program, will be accepting applications from July 15th to September 15, 2011. This program was established by Drs. Bill and Camille Cosby at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. Unaffiliated with USC, the goal of the Hanks-Miller Program is to develop the pool of qualified African-American writers in the entertainment industry.

This program meets twice a week for 15-weeks beginning February 2012. It is designed to assist writers in completing a television or feature script, while giving them the opportunity to examine African-American history, culture and iconography. Tuition is free to those selected.
