AWM and Ford Announce Emerging Voices Student Scholarship Winners

The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) Foundation and Ford Motor Company Fundannounced today that Luisa Garcia, a rising junior at The College of New Rochelle and Anne Johnson, a rising junior at Wake Forest University, are the scholarship recipients of the “Emerging Voices” program. The students were formally announced as winners during the Gracie Awards Luncheon on May 23, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA.

The “Emerging Voices” Scholarship program consists of two $2,500 scholarships, made payable directly to each student’s educational institute in the name of Ford Motor Company Fund. The winning students will provide journalistic content for AWM’s website based on assigned topics or prompts.

The Voice’s Vicci Martinez to Perform at 37th Gracie Awards Gala~May 22 Beverly Hilton Hotel

Alliance for Women in Media Foundation is pleased to announce that singer-songwriter and Universal Republic Recording Artist Vicci Martinez, a top-four finalist from season one of The Voice on NBC, will perform at the 37th Annual Gracie Awards Gala on May 22, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.  The Gracie Awards(also known as “the Gracies”) recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women, and about women in all facets of media, including radio, television, cable and new media.  The awards program also encourages the realistic and multi-faceted portrayal of women in entertainment, news, features and other programs.

When Vicci hits the studio or the stage, she nods to soulful folk and classic rock with an immortal R&B groove beneath everything.  Vicci’s talent for writing honest, heartfelt songs will be showcased on her forthcoming debut album for Universal Republic Records, VICCI.  On a recent appearance on season two of The Voice, Vicci performed her new single “Come Along” in an unforgettable duet with The Voice coach Cee Lo Green.

Gracie Awards Luncheon Keynote Speaker Announced

Alliance for Women in MediaFoundation (AWMF)  is pleased to announce that Nancy Kanter, Senior Vice President of Original Programming and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide, will deliver the keynote address at the 2012 Gracie AwardsLuncheon on May 23, 2012.  The Gracie Awards Luncheon will recognize the 2012 local, online, public and student winners at this industry luncheon at thehistoric Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA.

“We are thrilled that Nancy Kanter, an accomplished and powerful woman in media, will deliver the keynote at the 2012 Gracie Awards Luncheon,” said AWM Chair Valerie K. Blackburn.  “With many rising stars in media attending the Gracie Awards Luncheon, we are sure Nancy will inspire the next generation of media leaders.”

Gracie Awards National Winners for 2012~ May 22 @ Beverly Hilton Hotel

Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) is pleased to announce the 2012 national winners of the 37th Annual Gracie Awards. The awards will be presented at a black-tie Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. This black-tie event will be hosted by Angela Kinsey of the award-winning TV show The Office. Local market, public and student award winners will be announced later this week.

In preparation for the awards Gala, Gracie Award statues are being engraved for such talented women as Christina Applegate, Giada de Laurentiis, Delilah, Angie Harmon and Rachel Maddow and in recognition of such dynamic programming as ABC’s Revenge, CBS News’ 60 Minutes and OWN’s Oprah’s Master Class. The Gracies each year recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment, as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry. The awards program also encourages the realistic and multifaceted portrayal of women in entertainment, news, features and other programs.
