With all the media chatter about “Kim-YE” I thought it appropriate to discuss our own personal relationships. Yes…we all know that Kim and Kanye West are both multimillionaires, but do you know

the financial picture of the person you are dating?

Money should never be a divider in relationships yet the majority of all divorces are due to disagreements over financial matters. Why is this? It is my contention it is not the financial irresponsibility itself, because many of us including myself have made financial mistakes. However, it is the SURPRISE of that additional bank account loaded with money that was kept secret, that unknown poor credit score, or that irresponsible shopping addiction that causes financial turmoil and arguments in a relationship.

How do we solve this?

First, let me demonstrate a critical point by telling you this story: There was a little boy who saw an elderly man sitting on a bench with a dog. The little boy walked up to the man and said,

“Hey old man…does your dog bite?”

1. What do you feel are the most important qualities and/or qualifications to be a successful producer and/or engineer?

Well,talent helps, but the things beyond that which will help you become successful are drive, focus, work ethic, business ethic, trustworthiness, personality.  Rarely do I meet a successful person in the music industry without all of these traits, at least most of them.

2. You’ve worked and work with some heavyweights in the industry (Kanye West, Heavy D, Aaron Hall, Eminem, Rick Ross, Drake, Jay-Z, etc.), how is your approach to work when working with such esteemed artists as opposed to, maybe, lesser known artists? Are there any specific techniques some are required to be done in order to satisfy the overall production of the record and/or project?

If the counting and the sonogram is correct, Beyonce will be giving birth sometime in the next month to a sweet baby girl—but even this far into her pregnancy, the superstar is working on her fifth studio album, promoting her Beyonce Live at Roseland DVD, following husband Jay-Z on his Watch the Throne tour with Kanye West, working it on the cover of Jones magazine, and putting out the word that she doesn’t intend to let her newborn slow her down.

Writer/Producer The Dream, nee Terius Nash, who worked with Beyonce on her hit, “Single Ladies” and several tracks on her latest album, 4, including MyBrownBaby favorite “Love On Top,” told AOL’s The Boombox that, creatively, Beyonce hasn’t slowed down one bit. “She’s ready to work,” Dream said. “She’s crazy! She never stops doing anything. I don’t know if [pregnancy] is going to slow her down. She’s just incredible with doing things, I don’t know how she’s going to do it, she’s just a maniac… in a good way.”

Okay, um, raise your hand if hearing this worries you just a little bit. I mean, I don’t want to knock Beyonce’s hustle—she’s a hardworking woman whose talent, coupled with an unparalleled work ethic, has made her a household name in every corner of God’s green Earth. But as a mother who carried two babies to full term and a black woman who is keenly aware of the dangerous stakes associated with African American pregnancies, I worry for Beyonce and her baby. Because being a “maniac” while pregnant can be do serious harm to black women and their newborns.

If you thought Occupy Wall Street (OWS) was just a fly by night initiative, think again.  What began September 17, 2011 as a series of minimally publicized demonstrations in the financial district of New York City has blossomed into a full blown movement which has not only swept the United States, but crossed into international terrain, as well.

The participants’ slogan “We are the 99%“ refers to the vast difference in wealth between the top 1% and the rest of the population in the United States and abroad. The main purpose of the protest is to bring awareness to social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the power and influence of corporations, particularly from the financial service sector, and of lobbyists, over government.  In just over one month,  demonstrations modeling themselves after the “Occupy” protest brand have expanded into 70 major cities and over 600 communities in the U.S. and over 900 cities worldwide including Sydney, Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Hamburg, and many others.

After years of much anticipation, the Southern California hip hop trio Pac Div are set to release their debut album, “The Div”, on November 8, 2011, through a joint venture with RBC Records.
