Music megastars Big Boi and B.o.B are scheduled to appear on KMOJ’s Midday Show with Georgia Ellyse, Tuesday, March 12. The two will be on the show to promote their recent partnership with Electronic Arts for the upcoming release of “Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel.” They will also talk about the Army of TWO’s downloadable demo that will be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network starting on the same day.

The emcees were tapped to create the Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel theme song, “Double or Nothing,” and are also featured in the game itself as T.W.O. operatives. Big Boi has been cast as Charles “Chuy” Rendall, while B.o.B will take on the character Anthony “Baker” Barnes.

New York, NY – February 21, 2013 – Billboard and Nielsen announced today the addition of U.S. YouTube data to its platforms, which includes an update to the methodology for the Billboard Hot 100, the preeminent singles chart. The YouTube data is now factored into the chart’s ranking, enhancing a formula that includes Nielsen’s digital download track sales and physical singles sales; as well as terrestrial radio airplay, on-demand audio streaming, and online radio streaming, also tracked by Nielsen.

Interning has always been encouraged, especially in the world of entertainment where most things are usually learned from being hands-on. One of the most famous interns just happened to be a man who you may know as Diddy, Puff, Puffy or Puff Daddy, depending on when you were introduced to him.

There are many successful business people who started as interns, but it’s just rare that you hear their stories. This former intern at WEDR-FM 99 Jamz Miami, may be bigger than life these days.

Building a brand is something that is usually taught in business school, marketing classes and any other place but the turntables, yet, the St. Croix native has been building a successful brand without attending these type of classes.

But, it has more to do with actually working with and for the people who come to hear your craft. These days, especially in places like New York, Miami, Paris and England, people don’t want to just hear music. They want to experience the actual connection with the DJ and the music. And that job rests solely on the person responsible for allowing people to leave the venue feeling fully satisfied. DJ Irie is that man.

The Industry Cosign spoke with mega-popular DJ, who gained his love for music as a young student in Jamaica, to talk about his early days in music, marketing and expanding his reach and how important philanthropy is to his brand.

You were once roommates with reggae sensation, Sean Paul. How was that experience and did the two of you imagine breaking out to be ‘stars’ in your selected professions?

5 Questions With….. Bri Cooper

1. Traditionally, black kids who have an interest in music, typically tend to gravitate towards R & B, was this the case with you?

I never had an interest in gravitating towards R & B. Although I always enjoyed listening to various genres of music, my focus was always classical music. My parents exposed me to classical music not only by playing albums on the stereo, but with their conversations and when they would ask me about what I thought of certain classical singers. Even though I did not know who they were talking about. My parents would say…”well go look her/him up and let us know”

What steered you towards classical music?

I think it was just being around it so much and having parents that took me to operas and orchestra concerts.

2. You have so many awards and achievements for your musical voice, which awards are you most proud of and why?

It was Lil Wayne’s song “No Worries” that did it— sent me hurtling down yet another slippery slope on the rollercoaster ride that is parenting.

A prominent part of the song is Wayne’s blushingly explicit tribute to abundant pubic hair. Every time it comes on the radio when my teenage daughter is in the car, I feel shame­—a reaction that took me by surprise.

The song triggers my fatherly protective instincts—the desire to shield my daughter from things that will do her harm. I feel shame and embarrassment that as a dad, my generation has allowed “No Worries” and all the songs like it to be presented to my daughter as acceptable entertainment, as lyrics that she should absorb into her brain as an appropriate way for a young man to talk to her and about her.

Of course, we have been accosted by unbelievably explicit and offensive rap lyrics for more than a decade. But the difference for me is that now I have to listen to them with my newly minted teenage daughter in the car, a 13-year-old who has a deep passion for hardcore hip hop.

Gone are the days when I could simply change the channel when something came on the radio that I deemed inappropriate. Out of ear shot; out of mind. Now she’s actively looking for this stuff to download onto her iPhone. There’s no escaping it. The age of innocence is over. We still have some time with her little sister, who at age 10 is (thankfully? painfully?) in love with Taylor Swift and wants nothing to do with the rap that blankets the black airwaves here in Atlanta. Not sure how long this embrace of Taylor will last, but at this point I much prefer Taylor Swift to Lil Wayne (something I didn’t think I’d ever hear myself say).
