Legendary Dance/Rap Group “Oaktown’s 3.5.7
Tells All in Dec. Issue of Sister 2 Sister Magazine
The ladies of Oaktown’s 3.5.7 Sweet L.D. & Lil’ P recently sat down with Stephanie Dayton of Sister 2 Sister Magazine to discuss the new single “Get Up On It”, produced by Ty Macklin aka XL7. With a mature, mellow tempo and a groove that can still have you dancing to the great sounds of Oaktown’s 3.5.7 “Get Up On It” has really been buzzing with underground DJ’s. Sweet L.D. & Lil P explains the new single and the impact they plan on making with the song.
Sweet L.D. (Suhayla Sabir) who is currently a Zumba Instructor, and Lil’ P (Phyllis Charles) who is the owner of a Medical Supply company, also explain the true “behind the scenes” story of their years with MC Hammer and why Lil’ P left the group after two years. While the ladies enjoyed success as the “original posse” with MC Hammer, they weren’t happy with the way they were treated and are very vocal about it in their candid interview with Sister 2 Sister. To read the full article, pick up the December issue of Sister 2 Sister with Vivica Fox on the cover, the article is on page 36.
Recently Oaktown’s 3.5.7 commemorated their reunion with a red carpet appearance at the 2nd Annual Female Hip Hop Honors Awards in Los Angeles and a performance at the sold out Austin Pride Festival in Austin, TX. They really showed the crowd that they can still move on stage.
