Hollywood Hills x Labor Day Weekend x Casino x Mekhi Phifer x Don Cheadle
Actor Mekhi Phifer will host a night of serious gaming for a good cause on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 in the Hollywood Hills at mansion resort Fit 4 LA, from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. (red carpet 4-7pm) The 1st Annual Labor Day Weekend Kickoff 4 Kids Casino Night, presented by InVictus91 Sports Marketing and MPIC Events, will benefit The Young Actors Project and NFL defensive lineman Amobi Okoye’s charitable foundation. Celebrity guests Don Cheadle, Chris Mills, Roger Mills, Brandi Garcia, Omar Miller, Roger Cross, Omar Gooding, Dondre Whitfield, Glynn Turman and Stephen Reed, are expected to attend the red carpet soiree.
“Thank you to everyone that can come out and support Kickoff 4 Kids,” says Okoye. “We work very hard to reach out to as many children that we can and every part counts.” The exclusive event brings together the entertainment and sports industry’s prominent athletes, executives and VIP tastemakers for a charitable outcome. The star-studded, rooftop mixer will take place atop breathtaking views of Los Angeles, and feature private poker tables, sounds by DJ Orator, and a delectable appetizer and cocktail menu. The evening’s festivities will wrap up an exclusive Labor Day Weekend retreat at the private Hollywood Hills destination.
Okoye, the NFL’s youngest player to ever be drafted, founded Kickoff 4 Kids in 2007 to fulfill his passion for helping children by giving them hope for the future and showing them that they can also achieve great things. Okoye also believes that through partnership and collaboration, the inner cities of America can be renewed and impoverished nations enriched. Shifting to the arts arena, The Young Actors Project offers after-school acting classes and summer programs for youth ages 5-18, proving professional performing arts training and productions. The program is dedicated to the growth and self-expression of young actors.
“Amobi, at his young age, puts others before himself on a daily,” says Joe Luckett, Director of Public Relations at InVictus91. “He is a big guy and has an even bigger heart. For years he has dedicated his time and resources to philanthropy and events like this help him reach his goals.” With a successful launch of the Annual Labor Day Weekend fitness retreat, InVictus91 plans to continue the tradition in 2013, with goals to raise even more funds for non-profit organizations lacking much-needed support.
Kickoff 4 Kids Casino Night is made possible with the support of MPIC Events, InVictus 91, VSN Management and Echoing Soundz.
