For Immediate Release

Brooklyn Bodega, producers of The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival are proud to announce the headliners for the 10th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival happening July 9th-12th.

On the top of the bill isRaekwon. Raekwon is without a doubt one of the greatest MC’s of all time and one of the most prolific members of the the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. His debut album “Only Built for Cuban Linx” still stands the test of time as one of Wu-Tang’s best and remains the blueprint for honest Hip-Hop storytelling.

Next on the bill is Jay Electronica.  He is the New Orleans MC behind critically acclaimed works including “Exhibit C” and “Eternal Sunshine”.  Now signed to Jay-Z’ Roc Nation, the Hip-Hop community is eagerly awaiting his next project.

We are honored to have Jay back in Brooklyn.

CJ Fly

Rounding out the top of the bill is Pro Era co-founder and Brooklyn native

CJ Fly.

Dubbed the new Wu-Tang Clan, Pro Era rose to fame after its lead member, Joey Bada$$ knocked the Hip-Hop world on its heels with “Survival Tactics” featuring the late Capital STEEZ off of Joey’s 1999 EP.

Fly began receiving his own recognition from his reputable storytelling on another 1999 single entitled “Hardknock“. Since then he’s released his own debut solo project, “Thee Way Eye See It” Along with exclusive video releases with Interview Magazineand VICE’s Noisey.

The tape includes features from Ab-Soul, Phife Dawg, Buckshot, Joey Bada$$ and more and continues to receive acclaim from fans, critics and music aficionados worldwide.

The Pro Era energy represents the next wave of Hip-Hop both artistically as well as professionally. As we have done with Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, Schoolboy Q, Theophilus London, Tanya Morgan and more we are proud to give these young brothers a chance to shine right alongside Hip-Hop legends.

Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival Executive Director, Wes Jackson “As we enter our 10th year it was important that we curated a list of headliners that stayed true to our mantra ‘Unapologetically and Undeniably Hip-Hop’.  Raekwon, Jay Electronica and CJ Fly represent the true Hip-Hop spirit of creativity, longevity and tenacity.  Three virtues we also pride ourselves on.”

The Hip-Hop Institute

The 10th Anniversary of The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival also marks the beginning of Brooklyn Bodega’s next venture, The Hip-Hop Institute. The Institute is the natural evolution of the spirit of The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.

While The Festival has been Hip-Hop’s family reunion, The Institute will be its permanent home.  A place where aspiring artists, producers, DJ’s, filmmakers, designers and entrepreneurs will able to learn and practice their craft. It will be a safe home for touring artists. A performance space. An archive for our legacy.
