October 17, 2014, New York, New York – Film Life, Inc., is excited to announce the complete list of speakers for the 2014 Plunge Talk series at the 2014 Plunge Culture & Creativity Conference, which will take place November 6–8 at the Eden Roc Miami Beach. Along with green living expert and author Danny Seo (Plunge Talks on Friday, November 7th at 2:30 p.m.), the Black Enterprise “Innovation Slam Competition” and Frans Johansson, author of The Medici Effect (Plunge Talks on Friday, November 7th at 9:30 a.m.), journalist Mimi Valdés, USA Track & Field CEO Max Siegel and Tech Communications expert Vic Hyder, will be part of the inspiring lineup for Plunge Talks. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in Culture Classes, Plunge Fit and a special advanced screening of Gina Prince Bythewood’s upcoming film, Beyond the Lights on Saturday, November 8th at Regal Cinemas South Beach at 9 p.m.

 

This year’s Plunge Talks sessions will present information-packed discussions on topics ranging from technology to business innovation and communication to green living and entertainment. The schedule of the latest additions to the Plunge Talks featured speakers include:

Mimi Valdés, editor-in-chief of Vibe and Latina magazines, has proven herself in the field of journalism and magazine publishing. Her latest success, as Creative Director for Pharrell Williams’ i am OTHER, has definitely tapped into Mimi’s artistic side. i am OTHER is a multimedia company that works with music, apparel, philanthropy, film and video. We can thank Mimi and her business partner for the hypnotic tune and addictive video of the song “Happy,” which became a no. 1 worldwide hit. Mimi will be discussing her current projects and career trajectory on the Plunge Talks stage, Saturday, November 8th, at 2:45 p.m.

 

Nationally renowned sports and entertainment executive Max Siegel, became the fourth CEO of USA Track & Field (USATF) in May 2012, and quickly went to work on growing the USATF business. Since February 2013, USATF has announced partnerships with The Hershey Company, Neustar, Subway, the University of Phoenix, Coach’s Eye, and a landmark deal with Nike. He previously was President of Global Operations at Dale Earnhardt Inc., where he sold tens of millions of dollars in sponsorships, and Senior Vice President at Sony/BMG and President of Zomba Gospel, Tommy Boy Gospel and Verity Records, where he led one of the most profitable divisions in the Sony BMG system. As a music executive, he increased top-line revenue and reduced expenses to yield unprecedented profit in the gospel industry. He also was part of the executive team overseeing the careers of stars such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Usher. We look forward to Max’s Plunge Talk on Saturday, November 8th, at 11:30 a.m.

Commander Hyder served 20 years as a Naval Special Warfare officer with operational and management experience in myriad environments. In 2010, Vic Hyder founded the Blue Coral Advisory Group, a highly specialized security services provider and risk mitigation consultancy. Blue Coral provides premier security solutions for select clients focusing on high-end executive protection, private vessel maritime security and vulnerability assessments. Vic is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Silent Circle, which provides privacy to its members in 130+ countries via an encrypted communications ecosystem of software, services and devices. The recently launched award-winning Blackphone along with Silent Circle’s calling/messaging applications have set the world’s standard for secure communications. Vic will share his experience and insights with Plunge attendees in the Plunge Talk on Saturday, November 8th, at 9:30 a.m.

Budokon Yoga class led by Barbara Alfonzo, creator of Healthy Sexy Green. There is nothing like doing yoga on the beach – designed to establish more efficient patterns of moving, thinking and living.

 

The Plunge Culture & Creativity Conference is a multicultural networking event showcasing extraordinary people credited with groundbreaking work in the arts, entertainment and sports, lifestyle, media and technology. The three-day event will include inspiring talks, culture classes, film screenings, networking sessions and the Innovation Slam Competition programmed to be both intellectually stimulating and professionally rewarding. The conference, produced by Film Life in association with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMVB), was created to attract a national audience of influencers to engage in high-level networking and sample the rich cultural offerings of the greater Miami area. Other partners include Black Enterprise and Uptown magazines and the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA).
