Hip-Hop Legend/Icon, Ralph McDaniels (Video Music Box) celebrated his birthday at The M1-5 Lounge in New York City, Wednesday, February 29th with The Video Mix Party Crew (Ralph McDaniels, DJ Wiz of Kid N Play, Dana Dane, The Awesome Two, BIG CED and DJ Vern). In attendance were Grand Puba (Brand Nubian), Lil Fame (M.O.P.), B Fats, Luv Bug Starski, Free (Entouch),Vincent Davis (Vintertainment Records), Dana Dane, Gravy (Jamal Woolard), Ronnie Wright, Ernie Paniccioli (Hip-Hop Historian Photographer), Ken Murphy, D- Mitch, Kenya Smith, Datwon Thomas (, Butta L, Hot Dog (Chubb Rock), Seed Popular (Rule 4080) and a host of others I may have forgotten.

Celebrities Bust Tables to Beat Cancer at Doug E’s in Harlem: Come out on Wed.10/12/11

Hip Hop greats both past & present will become “Waiters & Waitresses” to raise money towards a Cure for Breast Cancer on Wednesday October 12th 4-7pm at Doug E.’s Chicken and Waffles  in Harlem, NY. Confirmed celebrities include Kangol Kid, Dougie Fresh, Roxanne Shante, Persia, Nikki D, Lady Luck, Dana Dane, Milk Dee, Joe Ski Love, Dinco (Leaders of The New School), Freedom Williams (C&C Music Factory), Rahiem (Furious 5), Bowlegged Lou (Full Force), Mike C (Fearless 4) and many more.

Spearheaded by Kangol Kid, lead member of one of Hip-Hop’s first nationally recognized rap groups UTFO, the event was created as an initiative under the “Mama Luke Movement”. Kangol Kid formed the organization with Film Executive Shaunda Lumpkin after Shaunda’s mother Gay Frances Lucas (affectionately known as “Mama Luke”) lost her three-year battle with breast cancer on May 31, 2010.

In her last year, Mama Luke appeared on the Wendy Williams Show for a Breast Cancer Awareness Special and was later invited on the Tom Joyner “Fantastic Voyage” Cruise as a VIP guest.

Widely embraced as “Hip-Hop’s Mom”, her passing inspired Hip-Hop Artists Dana Dane, Joe Ski Love, L.A. Sunshine of the Treacherous 3, NYOIL, R&B Group Force MDs and Actor Stu “Large” Riley (hit movie “KICKASS”) to rally in support of Shaunda, Kangol Kid and Breast Cancer survivor Roxanne Shantè at the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Upon completion of the race, they where they were greeted by Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker and later recognized as a Top 10 fundraising team of Newark, NJ. Read more…
