ERIC “EP” PARLER PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT, MIXSHOW & LIFESTYLE PROMOTION, DEF JAM RECORDINGS


 photo EricParler-the-industry-cosign_zps44995753.jpgDef Jam Recordings, a division of Universal Music Group (UMG) strengthens its lifestyle marketing initiatives with the promotion of Eric ‘EP’ Parler to Vice President, Mixshow & Lifestyle Promotion, it was announced today by Rodney Shealey, Execu­tive Vice President, Urban Promotion, and Rick Sackheim, Execu­tive Vice President, Promotion, Def Jam Recordings.  Mr. Parler, who is based in New York, will continue to work with lifestyle clubs and the top DJs across the country to build the initial buzz and excitement for all of the label’s new releases.

 

“It is truly an honor for me to receive this promotion in the midst of Def Jam’s historic 30th anniversary year,” said Mr. Parler.  “Def Jam has always reigned as the center of the hip-hop and urban music universe and I am proud to be part of the team in carrying that forward.  I want to thank Shawn “Pecas” Costner for his support and I’m excited to continue working closely with Rodney Shealey and Rick Sackheim.”

Mr. Parler has served as Senior Director, Mixshow & Lifestyle Promotion, Def Jam Recordings, since 2008, and received the award for Mixshow Executive of the Year in 2013 from the SIN Network.  A veteran promotion executive with over twenty years of extensive radio and touring experience, Mr. Parler began his career in music in 1996, as Associate Executive of Radio and Promotions at Elektra Records.  There he was instrumental in breaking such urban talent as Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Tamia, Lil’ Mo, Keith Sweat and Fabolous.  In 2001, he moved to Jive Records as Director of Mixshow Promotion, leading campaigns on behalf  of *NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Usher, OutKast, the Backstreet Boys, R. Kelly, Ciara, and many others.  After 4 years, he joined TVT Records as National Director of Mixshow, working with an artist roster that included Pitbull, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, and Yo Gotti.  Mr. Parler attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia where he graduated in 1995 with an Associates degree in MVB (Music & Video Business).
