Hennessy V.S Premier “The Renaissance Period of The African American in Sports”

Thursday night at Lincoln Center in NYC, Hennessy V.S presented the world premier screening of “The Renaissance Period of The African American in Sports,” a documentary telling the story of nine African American stars from the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

 

Before the screening, Hennessy V.S held a private reception for the Olympians in attendance including the films executive producer and Bronze medalist Herb Douglas, film director and producer Bob Lott and Olympian father and son duo Charles Jenkins Sr. and Charles Jenkins Jr.

 

Olympic Gold Medalist, Gabby Douglas introduces the film and is featured alongside Nelson Mandela and several athletes in the 22 minute long documentary which is slated to go on a national tour this summer. Herb Douglas  is the true definition of Hennessy’s mantra, Never stop Never settle. At 92 years old, Douglas is the oldest living Olympian and is continuing to change and impact the world.

Improvisers from Cipha Sounds’ teamA Tribe Called YES [Lydia Hensler, Christian Cappazoli, Abra tabak, Sean Diston, Natasha Rothwell, and Cipha Sounds] whom reenacted stories originally told by Mr. Vegas.

 

During the set, Mr. Vegas shared a story about his first attempt to lose his virginity that was to die for as well as his first trip to America.”Hip Hop Improv is not just for rappers. Each stop welcomed guests to a delightful assortment of brunch treats and hors d’oeuvres and featured master stylist, Pam Hogan, as well as master stylist, Tasheara Neshell, who later joined the effort in Chicago. They not only applied the TMS to those attending, but also provided styling options for long-lasting wear and manageability. (NEW YORK) – March 26, 2014 – On Monday night, VH1 and Hot 97 along with Monami Entertainment, Eastern TV and Myx Fusions Moscato, premiered the first two episodes of the upcoming unscripted comedy series “This is Hot 97” at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Cast members in attendance at the “Myx & Mingle” event included Angie Martinez, Funkmaster Flex, Ebro Darden, Miss Info, Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds, and Laura Stylez. The evening kicked off with Cipha Sounds taking the stage to give the 350+ crowd a warm comedic welcome. He then brought comedian Brooklyn Mike onstage for a hilarious stand-up routine followed by introductory remarks from executive producer and Myx Fusions Moscato CMO Mona Scott-Young. After the viewing, attendees posed their questions to the cast and got their take on the show, which is, in the words of Ebro, “nothing like a reality show.” He maintained that the cast is like family and the show gives viewers an authentic behind-the-scenes look at their funny and lovingly dysfunctional family dynamic. Additional attendees included Mack Wilds, Jennifer Williams (“Basketball Wives”), Chef Roble and Tahiry Jose (“Love & Hip Hop NY”). Music was provided by Hot 97’s own DJ Spynfo.

Marlon creates his own monumental selfie moment with the communications students at Howard

(NEW YORK) – March 24, 2014 – This past weekend, actor/comedian Marlon Wayans visited Washington, DC to promote his upcoming film A Haunted House 2. On Friday, Marlon spent the day at his alma mater Howard University speaking to students and interviewing with campus media. Marlon spoke about his days at Howard and answered students’ questions about pursuing careers in film and entertainment.

Friday evening, there was a screening of A Haunted House 2 at the Regal Gallery Place followed by a Q&A with Marlon. On Saturday, Marlon surprised fans at a sold out SWV concert at Howard Theatre when he made an appearance to introduce the singing group. The crowd went wild when Marlon walked on stage after a showing of the film’s trailer.

A Haunted House 2 opens nationwide on Friday, April 18.
