On the eve of the premiere of the highly anticipated remake of the classic “Annie” starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis, Franklin sat down with BET’s “Lift Every Voice” and NPR station KCRW to discuss his new projects, his career evolution, and the leap of faith that has ordered his path to success. Like her mentor, Oprah Winfrey, Jackson prides herself on being someone who doesn’t just motivate but who inspires individuals to give from the heart! Jackson asked attendees to her annual gala to repeat that phrase “feed just one” throughout the night at the 6th Annual Feed Just One Gala held at the Westin Stonebriar Resort Hotel in Frisco, TX. Franklin, who attended with his wife Meagan Good, was honored with the Entertainment Ambassador of the Year Award. The “Produced by Faith” author blessed many underserved families with his donation of tickets to the “Annie” premiere held at New York’s Ziegfeld Theater as part of the organization’s live auction, which drew a record-setting $100,000 for the cause. Total fundraising for the night exceeded over $320,000. “We think a Minnie’s Food Pantry should be in every state and we will personally include this charity in our annual giving,” the Franklins stated. Other honorees included Pat Houston, sister-in-law and manager of the legendary Whitney Houston; Grammy Award winner Kirk Franklin and wife Tammy; Katrina McGhee, founder of “Loving on Me” and Jody Dean host of KLUV radio in Dallas, TX.
