Washington, DC – A report released today by Black Women’s Roundtable Public Policy Network (BWR), Black Women in the U.S., 2014, found that significant progress has been made since key historical markers however, there are many areas that remain in need of dire national attention and urgent action. The report was released during a legislative briefing at the historic headquarters of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). The event kicks off the BWR National Summit taking place over the next three days.

(New York, NY –March 26, 2014) – Conductor, pianist, producer and recording artist Damien L. Sneed recently received the 2014 Sphnix Medal of Excellence honor, alongside Pedrito Martinez and Carla Dirlikov. The annual Sphinx Medals of Excellence honor extraordinary Black and Latino leaders in music who, early in their careers, demonstrate artistic excellence, outstanding work ethic, a spirit of determination, and leadership. The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the Aspen Institute Arts Program and the Sphinx Organization presented the medals at an exclusive luncheon at the Kennedy Center. Kathy Kruse of the Kennedy Center and Adam Erickson of the Aspen Institute welcomed the guests, and the awards were presented by Sphinx founder, Aaron P. Dworkin, and Sphinx board members Ken Fischer,president of the University Musical Society and Sandra Gibson, consulting advisor to the DeVos Institute for Arts Leadership at the Kennedy Center. In addition, the Sphinx Organization presented each honoree with a $50,000 career grant to further their professional pursuits. Read more…

Actor/Singer Jason Weaver is known for his unforgettable roles in hit movies like ATL, The Lady Killer (w/ Tom Hanks), Lottery Ticket, Drumline, Lion King (vocals/ Simba) and as Michael Jackson in Jackson American Dream. In addition to acting, Jason Weaver began his music career on Motown in late 90’s releasing a series of albums and singles working alongside Andre Harrell. He was featured on Chingys’ hit single “One Call Away” back in early 2000 and since then has continued to work behind the scenes in the music business. Jason will also be making upcoming appearances on BET’s new hit TV show “Lets Stay Together”.
Attitude is by far one of the music industries most innovative rappers/writers, a Grammy nominated artist and a member of Timbaland’s “Beat Club” crew, he is responsible for many massive hits including Timbaland & Nelly Furtado’s’ “Promiscuous,” as well as two Top 40 singles from Timbaland’s Shock Value 2 LP; the Justin Timberlake assisted “Carryout,” and Drake’s “Say Something.”

(NEW YORK) – March 26, 2014 – On Monday night, VH1 and Hot 97 along with Monami Entertainment, Eastern TV and Myx Fusions Moscato, premiered the first two episodes of the upcoming unscripted comedy series “This is Hot 97” at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Cast members in attendance at the “Myx & Mingle” event included Angie Martinez, Funkmaster Flex, Ebro Darden, Miss Info, Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds, and Laura Stylez. The evening kicked off with Cipha Sounds taking the stage to give the 350+ crowd a warm comedic welcome. He then brought comedian Brooklyn Mike onstage for a hilarious stand-up routine followed by introductory remarks from executive producer and Myx Fusions Moscato CMO Mona Scott-Young. After the viewing, attendees posed their questions to the cast and got their take on the show, which is, in the words of Ebro, “nothing like a reality show.” He maintained that the cast is like family and the show gives viewers an authentic behind-the-scenes look at their funny and lovingly dysfunctional family dynamic. Additional attendees included Mack Wilds, Jennifer Williams (“Basketball Wives”), Chef Roble and Tahiry Jose (“Love & Hip Hop NY”). Music was provided by Hot 97’s own DJ Spynfo.
